This past week, we discussed point of view. Today, you will analyze multiple accounts from an immigrant's perspective who is just arriving at Ellis Island.
1- The first account you will look at is Sophia Comes to America. This was a handout from yesterday. After you completed this, you will complete your T-Chart notes page by analyzing the following:

Welcome to Ellis Island: You are an immigrant from Austria-Hungary and have just arrived at Ellis Island.
1- Your first task is to explore Ellis Island and listen to other people's stories regarding immigration. Click here to begin!
2- Second, complete a simulated experience of an immigrant new to the United States.
3- Look at Primary Resources on this immigration DBQ. Specifically, look at Document 3 and 4. Answer the questions on the bottom of your graphic organizer.
Now comes the fun! You are going to create a narrative from an immigrant's point of view. Use all the the sources when considering what you write in your point of view. Remember, you are pretending you are the immigrant that has just arrived. You will either blog or you will use a Flip video camera/your smartphone. If you choose to use a Flip camera or your phone to record, please see me first!
Discuss what you think it would have been like to arrive at Ellis Island as an immigrant. Compose a rough draft in narrative format. You will write it in first person point of view. (You may type this in microsoft word or write it in your reading notebook.)
